However, I diverge from the topic of my inaugural post. "Off the Cusp" you may be thinking that I have my old English sayings mixed up. I have oh so cleverly merged two of them. Such is the joy if the English language that I will be teaching in my new home come July 2011.
Off the cuff -
| with little or no preparation or forethought; "his ad-lib comments showed poor judgment"; "an extemporaneous piano recital"; "an extemporary lecture"; "an extempore skit"; "an impromptu speech"; "offhand excuses"; "trying to sound offhanded and reassuring"; "an off-the-cuff toast"; "a few unrehearsed comments |
And "On the Cusp"
at the point in time that marks the beginning of something.
This is the place at which I stand right now. A combination of the unknown with a pinch of "off the cuff" decision making which is working well as I trust more that God has me in the palm of his hand. There is also an undeniable sense of expectation and readiness for the next step, season, chapter, phase, call it what you will in my life. Therefore as my first true blog post on the World Wide Web it seems only fit to entitle it "Off the Cusp" as I stand on the edge of it and choose to step into the precipice of what is next with both arms flailing above my head in roller coaster fashion.
There is something truly liberating and motivating when faced with something new, even though it will be a challenge never experienced for which we have no reference point. Off the Cuff and On the Cusp therefore is the perfect way to describe my current state of being.
